The Club

Springfield (Ancaster) Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1966.

There are a large number of members who fire a wide variety of firearms ranging from .22" small-bore rifle to gallery rifles, sporting rifles and black-powder firearms on the club's own ranges at Ancaster in Lincolnshire. Members also shoot full-bore rifles such as the 7.62mm target rifle and high-powered sporting rifles on military ranges such as Beckingham and Thetford.

There are three ranges at Ancaster as shown above. The main Charlestown range is used principally (but by no means exclusively) for small-bore rifle. Targets can be mounted at both 50 metres and 25 yards, and has been used for the Lincolnshire SBRA Championships. The two smaller ranges are ideal for pistol, gallery rifle and sporting rifle.

Members generally shoot on Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings, but keyholders may use the ranges at any reasonable time provided they are not alone. Prospective members are welcome to come to have a look on Sunday mornings between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

The club has a well-equipped clubhouse and ample car parking space, and is situated a short distance from Ancaster Station.
